How to Improve the Quality of Your Life

create a life you love

It’s all too common for people to feel dissatisfied with the quality of their lives. If you are one of those people, you likely start each day with reluctance and a lack of excitement and enthusiasm for whatever tasks or activities lie ahead. At the end of the day, you are stripped of aliveness and feel unhappy, unfulfilled, and frustrated.

You might also feel angry because you believe you have no way to improve things.

That’s not true.

You Can Create a Better Life

You have the ability to create a better life. You are not stuck with your circumstances, nor are you without options—even if you don’t yet see them. And you don’t need to wait for an act of God to miraculously improve your life.

You can make that happen.

You are a powerful creator who can decide this moment to change the quality of your life. However, as long as you believe your circumstances—the things that are stopping you from having a life you love—are unchangeable, you become a victim of those very circumstances.

Victims are powerless. You believe you are powerless to change your life for the better, which makes you a victim of your life circumstances.

But you are not powerless…not by a long shot. And you can change your life…if you change yourself.

To improve the quality of your life, you must do five things. All of them involve personal growth, because changing your external circumstances always begins with internal personal change. You must create change from the inside out.

1. Access your personal freedom.

You may feel caged and unable to free yourself from the life you dislike. You believe you’ve tried and failed. Now, you believe there is  no way out of your current circumstances, so you don’t try to find the key to your cage.

Your “stuckness” results from your belief that you are not free to choose or create something better. In fact, you always possess the inherent freedom to create change. For example, you can choose to think, behave, and see life differently.

Victor Frankel was placed in one of Hitler’s concentration camps. In his book, Man’s Search for Meaning, he wrote about the fact that all people are free to change their circumstances—or their experience of them—simply by finding meaning in their life.

You can decide right now to find meaning in your existence. You can begin improving the quality of your life by appreciating it and expressing gratitude for being alive—and for the opportunity to create the life you desire.

And you have the personal freedom to look for new options, opportunities, and ways to improve your condition. You are only caged by your belief that you can’t create change.

Change your thoughts, and your beliefs change. Then, you see your life and the chances of improving its quality differently.

2. Access your personal power.

You also come into this lifetime with inherent personal power. Power is your ability to do something or act in a particular way. It is also the capacity to direct or influence your own behavior and that of others, as well as the course of events.

When you exercise your personal power, you can decide who you will be, what you will do, how you will think, and how you will change. You can use your power to take actions that improve the quality of your life.

Personal power is something you can access and even increase. When you feel stuck, you aren’t using your personal power. However, when you choose to do something new  and take action that results in change, you use it.

Accessing personal power helps you stand up for yourself, live into your values, and do what is necessary to create a better quality of life.

3. Change your identity.

The quality of your life is determined by who you are “being” at any given time. If you are someone who feels unable to create change, that’s who you are being. It’s your identity, and your identity is what you believe about yourself.

You might also believe you are someone who can’t change, is bad with money, never commits fully, or doesn’t finish what you start. That belief impacts your self-esteem, relationships, work, and how you interpret everything.

Your identity also dictates your mindset. Thus, if you believe you are someone who can’t create change, your brain continually tells you this is so. And you see proof of this belief.

Additionally, your identity determines your habits. You will always do or behave like the person you believe you are. If you believe you are bad with money, you will continue overspending or finding reasons not to save.

You can change your identity—your belief about yourself. Decide to be someone who takes action to create a better life. Then, you will begin to see opportunities to do so. And you will believe you can act on those opportunities—and you will. That’s when you…and your life changes for the better.

4. Follow your spiritual guidance system.

You are a spiritual being as well as a human one. And your spiritual aspect—your soul—offers you spiritual guidance continually, although sometimes you don’t notice.

When you follow your soul’s guidance, your life improves. Notice when you get an intuitive hit, feel inspired, or become passionate about something. That’s your soul speaking to you, showing you what step is for your highest good.

Following spiritual guidance helps you know what actions to take that align with your highest good. Just becoming aware of that spiritual element changes the quality of your life. It takes you out of the mundane and into the sacred; it makes the ordinary extraordinary.

5. Create what matters to you.

When you implement the first four suggestions, you will find yourself able to create what matters. No more excuses or reasons for why you can’t. No more blaming circumstances.

You acknowledge your freedom and power to choose to be the creator of your life. You decide to be someone who takes the actions necessary and possible to create what matters.

When your life is filled with people, things, activities, pursuits, and experiences that matter to you, it feels different…better. Your ability to create what matters improves the quality of your life.

You no longer feel lack, longing, jealousy, or dissatisfaction. The opposite is true. You feel your life is abundant, and you have deep gratitude and fulfillment for each day.

It’s Your Responsibility to Improve the Quality of Your Life

You can continue blaming outside circumstances, people, or your past for the quality of your life. Or you can take responsibility for improving it.

When you blame or make excuses for your life, you give away your power and become a victim.

You can keep waiting for that miraculous act of God to change your life. But you realize that waiting has not changed much to date.

Instead, acknowledge that you are the one who needs to show up and do whatever it takes to improve the quality of your life. That fact alone should give you a sense of freedom and power and the motivation to act. Then, listen to your internal guidance system; you will know which actions support the creation of what matters to you.

Allow yourself to be someone who creates a fabulous life. Demonstrate the mindset and habits of someone who takes responsibility for their daily experiences. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the quality of your life improves.
